Welcome to the View from the Top podcast, Season 2. Today, Aaron Walker and Danny “Sunshine” Bauer discuss how to finish strong.  We hope you enjoy the podcast. All the highlights, resources, and next steps can be found below. Listen to the full episode and learn more at viewfromthetop.com.

How to Finish Strong

Aaron has some systems in place that he has developed over time as he as learned through failures and successes.  One of the common threads he sees when visiting with people is that people are over-committed.

Greg McKeown talks about it in his book; We’re much better off being an inch wide and a mile deep than an inch deep and a mile wide.” - Aaron Walker

Systems that help him to be a success

Middle Game-most are starters and finishers but we needs to shore up our middle game and finish strong

Focus, plan-map out the year on a google spreadsheet and community-lean on as a lever to pull from and lean on

Have a Plan

One of the things Aaron does each year includes mapping out with his CEO what they want to accomplish.  They will send 20 hours over two days and finish with knowing what their focus will be each day.

It’s as simple as getting out a google spreadsheet.  Writing down all the things we want to accomplish and I will literally know the theme every month, the books we will read, the questions we will ask, the blog topics that we will write about.” - Aaron Walker

Accountability Group

Aaron meets with three guys once a week on Friday morning.  He is also in a mastermind group with Dan Miller and has been for over two decades every week.  Motivation wears out and you need to refuel. These accountability groups will help you to do so.

Guys if you don’t have a plan, an accountability group or a mastermind group, I don’t know how you think you are going to accomplish all of the tasks you need to do.” - Aaron Walker

Common Denominator

Aaron sees a common a denominator among all people.  They don’t even know who they are themselves. So Aaron wrote a document called Personal Assessment.  It talks about your identity, ideals, relationships, faith, career, etc.

Today’s challenge is to get 1% better everyday.  Put up those chocolates or invest that money. Start eating that salmon.  It’s hard to see in the moment how much you are getting but over time that actually equals to you becoming a 37 times more powerful person over time if you just make smarter choices.
